Concept
Sitronix integrates environmental considerations into its GreenDriver technology for LCD driver ICs, and strives to meet conservation standards in fulfilling its responsibilities as a good corporate citizen. Fewer External Components
The traditional Hi-FAS system uses several capacitors for its power supply system. So it may cause difficulties for the module designers. The GreenDriver (Sitronix’s Hi-FAS) power supply system minimizes the number of capacitors for the benefit of the LCD module vendors. With a minimum number of capacitors a high quality, high performance display can be designed.
 
Efficiency
Lower Power Consumption
Because segment signals change the output according to the display pattern, the segment signal switching frequency is much faster than the common signal. As the switch frequency increases, the transient current and power consumption of segment drivers are greater than common drivers.
By using very low segment voltage, the waveform of GreenDriver can achieve a relatively low transient current when compared with the traditional driving methods. With a much higher output voltage, the traditional waveform causes large power consumption while under the transient state. However the GreenDriver waveform uses very low segment voltage so the transient current caused by the segment switching in GreenDriver technology is much lower than in a traditional system.
   
Power Saving Magician  
In addition, Sitronix patented the unique technology named Power Saving Magician. The comparators are used to monitor the output voltage level. If the output level is not high enough, the comparators will force the related power circuits to increase output voltage level.
When the output voltage level is high enough, the related power circuits will be turned to power saving mode by the comparators.
   
Economical
 
Smaller Chip Size
 
GreenDriver uses Hi-FAS technology which saves more space in the size of the chip. The segment outputs of our Hi-FAS system use a low-voltage process due to their unique driving waveform design. Traditional drivers, on the other hand, use a high voltage process for segment outputs. The low voltage process that we use in GreenDriver takes less space than the high voltage process. As the segment output number increases, more space can be saved. That's why GreenDriver Technology can have such a small dice size.

Multi-selectable Temperature Compensation Curve
 
■ Different Liquid Crystals have various temperature responses.
A selectable temperature compensation curve is useful for LCD module vendors to fine tune the display quality.
■ GreenDriver has 16 segments and 16-line selectable slopes from -40°C to 88°C that can completely fit the temperature compensation curve of the customers’ liquid crystal.
Built-in Temperature Monitor Function
 
The Temperature Monitor Function can adjust power consumption and achieve the best power saving performance. The display quality can be kept in the most optimal status with minimum power consumption under low temperature.
